In the fall of 2017, Milk Jar and Local Laundry launched a candle that showcased the best of both brands. The Sweater Weather candle blended the cozy atmosphere of autumn evenings and Canada’s beautiful winters with a maple-butter scent.
Through that collaboration, Local Laundry and Milk Jar built a partnership as sister companies, based on shared values of Canadian production, community-based initiatives, and a love for collaborative exploration into how we can harness a moment or memory into a re-liveable scent and feeling.
ABOUT ‘HANG DRY’
We’ve teamed up for a second time to offer a Summer pairing to our initial collaboration and with that we present to you: the ‘Hang Dry’ Candle.
‘Hang Dry’ came from an idea of capturing our favourite smells of summer. The candle contains notes of juicy Watermelon and fresh Mint leaves. We wanted to share our memories of backyard cocktails, picnic lunches, and seemingly timeless days.
The name Hang Dry comes from the nostalgia of summer linens drying in the yard, giving each garment a distinct warmth and smell from the summer sun.
We combined these elements in hopes to encompass the relaxed, lackadaisical energy we all feel as the days get warmer.
ABOUT MILK JAR
Milk Jar Candle Company was founded by Holly Singer in Calgary in November 2016. Concerned about the health risks associated with paraffin candles, Milk Jar began as an effort to bring a more affordable, clean-burning, soy candle to the local market. Great care is taken in developing signature scents and hand pouring each and every candle in our Calgary factory. Milk Jar candles are simple and appeal to all ages and genders, with an array of scents ranging from sweet and subtle to fresh and earthy.
Our passion is in our product, but our vision is in our community. $1 from the sale of every scented soy candle is donated to a non-profit supporting children with disabilities.
An important value that Milk Jar and Local Laundry share is their local production. Being made in Canada not only allows a direct and transparent process when developing products, but it also allows for a diverse and inclusive hiring process amongst local communities.
