WHY WE MADE THIS: MADE IN CANADA NON-MEDICAL FACE MASKS

WE’RE EXCITED TO LAUNCH PRE-ORDER FOR OUR CANADIAN MADE NON-MEDICAL FACE MASKS. MORE CONVERSATIONS HAVE CENTRED AROUND EQUIPPING CANADIANS WITH NON-MEDICAL MASKS. THE ALBERTA GOVERNMENT RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING WEARING A CLOTH OR NON-MEDICAL MASK MIGHT BE HELPFUL IN PROTECTING THOSE AROUND US.

WE AIM TO BUILD COMMUNITY THROUGH EVERYTHING WE DO. $3 FROM EVERY CANADIAN MADE NON-MEDICAL FACE MASK WILL GO BACK TO THE COVID-19 RELIEF FUND OF WHICH WE’VE ALREADY RAISED JUST UNDER $20,000 TOWARDS!

While we know non-medical face masks don’t stop the spread of COVID-19, masks might slow the spread and protect those around us when we can’t social distance. By launching our Made in Canada Non-Medical Face Masks, we’re choosing the opportunity to continue to build community and raise our donation to the COVID-19 Relief Fund by contributing $3 from every mask sold. We want to equip Canadians with non-medical face masks to ensure our support and respond to the government’s notion of wearing non-medical face masks.

Made with 100% cotton, our Made in Canada Non-Medical Face Masks are Canadian-made and double-layered. Our Canadian manufacturer has recently started making non-medical face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) around the clock to support Canadians. We wanted to ensure anyone and everyone who needs or desires to have a mask can purchase one.

Our Made in Canada Non-Medical Face Masks are sold in 2, 3, 6 and 12 packs so you can purchase masks for your whole family, or give one to someone you love. If you would like to order for sizeable groups or an organization we have made bulk pricing available. Our Made in Canada Non-Medical Face Masks are in production and will be ready to ship by June 5th, 2020. All masks are final sales and we will not be accepting returns or exchanges after a Canada Non-Medical Face Mask is purchased.

We know these masks may seem like they are a tad on the expensive side. Here’s the rationale. Our number one mandate in creating these non-medical masks is to offer customers an affordable mask that was Canadian made and high quality.

Our masks are hand sewn here in Canada and paying for Canadian labour is very expensive, rightfully so, and for all the right reasons which is why it’s the only labour we want to support. Labour that adheres to strict Canadian labour and environmental laws, pays a living wage, offers benefits in a safe working environment during COVID. Plus on top of that, we subsidize the cost of shipping the masks.

On average it costs us about $16 to ship a single mask where we only charge $10 or free shipping on orders over $60, plus the cost to warehouse and pay our fulfilment team to pack, fulfill and ship. The numbers add up quite quickly. With the $3 donation on top of everything, we are barely making any money on these masks, only enough to pay our team. With the idea of selling them in packs, there are some cost breaks the more you order.

Ultimately, we decided to pull the trigger because it can keep our Canadian workers employed as well as help bring a little safety to our community.

Here are a few other tidbits to know before using your mask:

  1. Machine wash before your first use and between uses
    1. Anytime you use your mask ensure it’s washed or clean before your next use
    2. Fun fact: non-medical cloth masks can be cleaned with other items in your laundry hamper by using a hot cycle and then dried thoroughly
  2. Wash your hands before putting your mask on, and after taking it off
  3. While you’re wearing your mask in public places, follow other protective measures including physical distancing, not touching your face, coughing or sneezing into your elbow and not breathing... moistly (that’s a little Trudeau joke)

All necessary safety precautions have been taken and when you buy a piece of Canadian-made clothing you are not only supporting Canadian small business but you are single-handedly supporting every Canadian small business in their supply chain. Which, in our case, includes many family-owned and operated businesses that are doing their best to keep their employees on staff and support a diversified Canadian economy.
