University of Calgary goes LOCAL

We are thrilled to announce that we've teamed up with the University of Calgary to cook up some trouble! The university has done an amazing job building community and supporting local for generations. This is why we believe that the university's communal values make them an ideal partner to work and create some incredible Canadian made garments with!

During your last trip through Mac Hall, on your way to pick up your latest textbook, you may have noticed our familiar YYC design in the classic U of C colours, red and gold. U of C students love wearing their school colours and supporting the home team, so we wanted to give them a Canadian made option so they could represent their school AND the pride of our city. 

We couldn’t be prouder to offer our YYC X and mountain design in Dinos' colours. Sold exclusively at the U of C Bookstore, we created a powerful crewneck and the timeless hoodie that students can rock at the Den or casually throw on as they run late to class. 

Adam Maurer, manager of clothing and general merchandise at the University of Calgary Bookstore comments, “Local Laundry was a natural fit for the store as we expand our in-store clothing assortments beyond logo wear. We work closely with fair labour accredited clothing vendors so we were excited to bring on a made in Canada brand that really identifies with our student population. As a way to showcase this new exclusive U of C collection, we’ve teamed up with the Dinos to bring you Local Night to the Battle of Alberta!

On Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (main UCalgary campus), the U of C men and women’s basketball teams will face off in a doubleheader against their rivals, the University of Alberta, in one of the most highly anticipated match-ups on the Canada West basketball calendar. 

We’ll be there selling our Canadian made garments including the exclusive Red and Gold YYC sweaters through a U of C Bookstore pop up. Be sure to be rocking your Local Laundry gear! We’ll be giving out prizes for people in the crowd that are rocking our Canadian made garments.

We're bringing a local photographer and plan on snapping lots of high-quality photos all night of students in LL gear. Create your very own Insta-worthy content! 

Other Calgary small businesses will be setting up booths and information selling, showcasing and sampling the very best that our city has to offer! Here are the details:
