LOCAL LAUNDRY HOLIDAY DRINK FEATURE
Here’s to the holidays!
There’s no question that Calgary comes alive during the holiday season! This city has so much to offer this time of the year, and for those of us who get to call this place home, we know that there is an endless supply of opportunities and experiences to make the season bright!
Take a trip to the mountains, go shopping a holiday market, experience the lights and holiday décor, or maybe enjoy a tasty holiday-inspired beverage from a local coffee shop.
If 2021 has taught us anything, it’s the value of community and togetherness, and after all isn’t that what the holidays are all about? There seems to be a renewed sense of optimism and expectancy this year, that this time around we’ll get to enjoy many familiar elements again.
I am thrilled once again this year to partner with Local Laundry (one of my favourite Calgary companies) who have always been a company committed to the values of community and togetherness. Together we are excited to share with you some of the best holiday-inspired beverages to keep you warm, and well-caffeinated, during this season!
So here are five great cafes and five great drinks you can enjoy in the weeks to come! Lets all do our part to support local, and to make a lasting impact in our city.

Holiday Drink: Gingerbread Latte
The Gingerbread Latte is a brand-new creation from the team at Monogram. They are one of the cafes here in Calgary that I can always count on to offer new and familiar holiday drinks this time of year. And this year without fail they continue to impress. This latte contains their house made gingerbread syrup (gingerbread spices, rich molasses, and brown sugar), your choice of milk or milk alternative, espresso, and is topped with a fluffy ginger whipped cream. It's spicy, sweet, rich, and very balanced! Oh, and it’s gluten free!
Monogram is also home to my favourite Eggnog latte. It seriously is one of the drinks that I look forward to most during the Holiday season. So while it may not be my feature drink this year I couldn’t put this all together without at least making mention of it.
Monogram has four locations across the city: Downtown (5th Ave), Britannia, Altadore and their newest NW location in the University District. Each location has their own unique charm that reflects the neighbourhood they call home. Britannia, Altadore & University District all offer free parking! Each are serving up this delicious drink so pick whichever is closest to you and go enjoy this tasty drink

Holiday Drink: Sugar Plum Fog
For all of you non-coffee drinkers the Sugar Plum Fog (far left) is for you! Rosso Coffee Roasters has three unique holiday creations that they’re offering this season…but I wanted to ensure there a few non-coffee drinks included in this feature. The Sugar Plum Fog is made with Rosso’s own plum-pear black tea syrup and steamed milk, topped with a touch of sumac. It’s a drink full of warmth, comfort, with a balanced sweetness. Sugar plum’s won’t just be dancing in your head with this drink, they’ll be dancing on your taste-buds too!
Rosso has 7 locations throughout Calgary. I love stopping by their Stephen Avenue location to grab a drink and then walk over to Olympic Plaza to enjoy some skating. Like I mentioned they also have released a Spiced EggNog Latte, along with a Candy Cane Cocoa. So there is no shortage of great holiday-inspired drinks to warm you up on these cooler days.

Holiday Drink: Spiced Dulce Latte
This is the first time getting to feature Phil & Sebastian for this holiday drink guide. I have always appreciated their commitment to making great coffee, and this year’s holiday-inspired drink is one that presents just the right blend of sweet, spice, and creaminess. This is a drink that you’re going to love. The Spiced Dulce Latte reminds me of a German spice-cookie I remember enjoying growing up called Peppernuts. I love the nostalgia that this drink creates for me…and maybe you too! Swing on over to any of their cafes and indulge in the Spiced Dulce Latte.
Phil & Sebastian has eight locations across the city. Each location has their own unique charm that reflects the neighbourhood they call home. You’ll often find me grabbing a drink from their Simmons Building location in East Village and taking a winter stroll along the Riverwalk. But no matter where you live, you’re sure to find one nearby.
Good Trade Co.

Holiday Drink: Mulled Cascara
The team at Good Trade are thrilled to introduce a new Holiday Drink. The Mulled Cascara is a delightful blend of mulling spices and cascara tea. Picture a warm red-grape flavour with cinnamon and clove. For those unfamiliar with cascara, it is outer skin from the coffee cherry. It’s the seed of that cherry that we roast and turn into coffee. This is Good Trade’s play on a mulled red wine, but non-alcoholic and with a touch of caffeine. This drink is unlike anything you’ve tasted before. Grab one while you’re out walking the streets of Kensington stopping in at your favourite local shops!
Good Trade has two locations in Calgary, at the Crossroads Farmers Market (Fri-Sun) along with their flagship café in the heart of the Kensington neighbourhood at 1154 Kensington Crescent NW. The Kensington neighbourhood is one of my favourites to stroll down in December. Stop by to get your Mulled Cascara as you support the incredible local shops in the area.

Holiday Drink: Oat Nog Latte
I am excited to introduce a new café to our Holiday Drink Feature. Kaffeeklatsch has been a part of the Calgary coffee community for several years now. And this year to celebrate the holidays they are offering an Oat Nog Latte. This tasty treat is something to be enjoyed by anyone, but especially for those who prefer an alternative to dairy. Rich, creamy and with all those familiar noggy-spices, it’s a drink you’re destined to go back for time and time again. They even top it off with freshly grated nutmeg, and the moment those aromatic notes waft to your nose you’re going to feel whisked into the holiday spirit.
This Oat Nog is perfectly blended with their house-made rum syrup and gorgeous espresso. Not only is it vegan—it has no alcohol, gluten, or guilt!
Kaffeeklatsch has two locations in Calgary, at the Cambrian Wellness Centre along with their flagship café in the heart of the Beltline at 1205 1st Street SW. The Beltline is a great place to spend time enjoying the incredible downtown holiday décor. I am so excited to have the opportunity to feature Kaffeeklatsch for the first time on this holiday drink guide!
So there you have it! The holiday season is here, but as we know it doesn’t last forever. And that means these drinks won’t be around forever either. So when you’re out doing your holiday shopping at the many great local businesses Calgary has to offer, make sure to grab one of these incredible holiday coffee creations!
If you have any questions about the coffee community here in Calgary feel free to connect with me. There are so many more amazing cafes and coffee roasters here in this city, these were just four that I felt were offering unique holiday drink creations that I wanted to share!
One last thank you to Kassey’s Photography for snapping these amazing pictures of me in my Local Laundry Bamboo Zip Up Hoody.
Happy Holidays,
