Product Care
Local Laundry — Product Care
Keep your Canadian-made gear looking sharp for years. Follow the care by fabric below, plus pro tips for prints, stains, pilling, storage, and more.
Quick Care (TL;DR)
- DO Wash cold, gentle cycle. Similar colours. Turn garments inside-out.
- DO Hang or lay flat to dry to reduce shrinkage, pilling, and energy use.
- DO Use mild detergent. Spot-treat stains promptly.
- DON’T Bleach (unless whites allow it). Avoid fabric softeners on performance/bamboo blends.
- DON’T High heat in the dryer; it’s the #1 cause of shrinking and cracked prints.
Always check the care label on each product; it’s the source of truth for that garment.

- Wash in a delicates bag to reduce friction.
Heavyweight Fleece Hoodies, Crewnecks, Sweatpants

Dry
- Air dry recommended. Tumble low if needed; remove while slightly damp and smooth the fabric.
Pro Tips
- Lint and fuzz? Use a lint brush or fabric shaver lightly.
- Skip softener; it can crush fleece loft over time.
Shackets & Outerwear Blends & Lined
Wash
- Close zippers/snaps. Cold wash, gentle. Use mild detergent.
- Spot clean between washes to extend life.
Dry
- Hang to dry on a wide hanger; reshape collar and cuffs.

- Brush surface with a soft clothes brush to refresh.
Headwear & Accessories Hats, Socks
Hats
- Spot clean with mild soap. Hand wash crown if needed; avoid soaking brims.
- Air dry on a form (bowl) to keep shape.
Socks
- Wash inside-out, cold. Avoid bleach and softener.
- Tumble low or air dry to preserve elasticity.
Caring for Prints & Embroidery
Screen Prints
- Turn inside-out before washing to reduce abrasion.
- Avoid hot water and high dryer heat to prevent cracking.
- Do not iron directly on print; iron inside-out on low if needed.
Embroidery
- Wash gentle, inside-out or in a mesh bag.
- Avoid snagging on zippers/Velcro; trim loose threads—don’t pull.
- Press with a cloth between iron and embroidery, low heat/steam.
Stain Guide (Act Fast)
Common Stains
- Oil/Grease: Dab liquid dish soap on the spot, wait 10–15 min, rinse cold, then launder.
- Coffee/Wine: Blot (don’t rub), flush with cold water, treat with enzyme detergent.
- Mud: Let dry, brush off, then pre-treat with detergent and wash cold.
What to Avoid
- Don’t use hot water first—heat can set the stain.
- Avoid chlorine bleach on colours; try oxygen-based brighteners on whites only.
Test any stain treatment on an inside seam first.
Pilling & Everyday Wear
Pilling is natural on soft knits (bamboo, fleece) where fibres rub. It’s not a defect—but it is manageable.
- Reduce Wash inside-out, gentle cycle, and air dry.
- Remove Use a sweater comb or fabric shaver lightly on the surface.
- Avoid Over-stuffing machines and high heat, which accelerates abrasion.
Drying, De-Wrinkling & Ironing
Drying
- Best: Hang or lay flat. Smooth seams and hems while damp.
- Tumble low only if needed; remove promptly.
Wrinkles & Pressing
- Use a garment steamer or iron on low.
- Never iron directly on prints; press inside-out or with a pressing cloth.
Storage & Travel
- Fully dry before storing to prevent mildew.
- Fold heavy knits; hang shackets/outerwear on wide hangers to maintain shape.
- For travel, roll garments to reduce creases; hang/steam on arrival.

Repairs, Restorations & Lifespan
We build garments to last. Normal wear happens—here’s how to extend life even further:
- Snags: Pull fabric flat and secure the thread tail on the inside; don’t yank.
- Small holes or popped seams: A local tailor can make quick, inexpensive fixes.
- Hardware: Zip slowly; keep zipper tracks clear of fabric to avoid bites.
