Hello World!
Hello Hi Hey!
Glad you stopped in for a read – we are pleased to have you, welcome to the Local Laundry blog! Before continuing I believe introductions are necessary.
Hello! My name is Kathleen Smiley and I will be the one talking with you each week, along with the fellas from Local Laundry. I am a freelance writer and aspiring Public Relations graduate, if that day will ever grace me with its presence. In the mean time its 380 days and counting. I must tell you I am extremely pleased and thankful to be here and to have the opportunity to bring forth stories of Local Laundry, local communities and of course adventures. These stories will encompass tales of heart, warmth and the best of all, inspiration, as well as anything else caught in between or up the middle.
I would like to start things off by expressing immense gratitude for the hat, shirt and sweater-wearing supporters expressing their admiration for Local Laundry. If we haven’t said it before we would like to say it here, thank you for all of your encouragement, appreciation and continual love for the Local Laundry brand and apparel. Part of our goal with this blog is to, not only share our stories with you about who we are, what we do and where we hope to go, but to incessantly involve the hearts of YYC neighborhoods and habitants. Expect this blog to be the first of many to come, a weekly omission of tales, tributes and triumphs! One of the wonderful aspects of a blog is to have the ability to connect with supporters of Local Laundry, therefore if you have a story, anecdote or moment to share please send it our way – we would love to know what everyone’s been up to!
It can be said people are continuously coming up with new ideas every day. When it comes down to it inspiration is all around us, it’s the not-so-secret ingredient woven through every incident of how a company came to be. How often has a story started with, “well I was really inspired by...” it’s beautiful thing. Inspiration can be derived from people, places, events scents, stories – anything! Inspiration never sleeps; we can be awoken by our thoughts, constantly searching persistently for something greater, something beyond or outside of ourselves. After I first met with Connor, owner of Local Laundry, that’s what consumed me – pure inspiration. I walked out of Monogram coffee shop thinking I could take on the world, as if it was literally my oyster. The passion that poured out of that man was intoxicating. The scent of wanting to make a difference, believing in the true goodness of humankind and expressing admiration for YYC and the many communities that make it up was consuming. Like I said inspiration can be derived from anything, anywhere. For Local Laundry embracing communities and the love of getting to know people and businesses fulfills their souls through YYC inspired apparel and hats.
Not only is Local Laundry a local company, as it’s name obviously implies, it’s a company that is in pursuit of it’s dreams. It’s often we come across people who say, “that was my dream but this, that and the other thing happened and I had to give it up,” Local Laundry are not those people. Some would call it a crime to get close to your dreams and watch them slip away out of grasp. When it comes to pursuing our dreams I’m sticking with Walter White as he claims, “I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And, I was really…I was alive.” That’s what chasing your dreams makes you feel, alive. And isn’t a beautiful thing to feel alive? I guess that’s for you to share with us.
If you are feeling inspired and would like to reach out to us please email us at info@locallaundryapparel.com to see how we can collaborate!
