Take time & make time with Tense Wooden Watches
Tense (noun): A set of forms taken by a verb to indicate time; One moment in time in relation to another moment in time. Past, present, future.
Tense Watches designs high-quality wooden watches. We make everything from recycled or reclaimed wood. Each watch is manufactured by hand in our workshop just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Our products are designed and built around our core beliefs in quality and craftsmanship.
How did this happen you may ask? Well...
In 1957, Ken P. Lau started his profession as a clock designer. He pioneered experimentation with natural components, such as wood and stone. In 1968, Ken moved his focus to wristwatches, as he realized he could use small reclaimed wood pieces to create the links and watch cases very easily and in 1971 Tense Wooden Watches was founded. Even now, Ken brings his almost 50 years of experience as a crafter of timepieces to the workshop every day, although the business has been taken over by his 2 daughters who now lead the workshop on a daily basis.
Where we started, has not only created the foundation of our who we are at Tense Watches but also has led us to discover how we can impact our community.
Being a Canadian business has always been something that all of us here at Tense are very proud of, as well as giving back to our community in any way we can. This past August we partnered with Dress For Success Vancouver and we were able to donate both product and proceeds from our website. We also have partnered with The David Suzuki Foundation creating them a custom watch with proceeds going back to support our local environment. Currently, we are looking for even more ways we can give back and continue to support our amazing community here in the Lower Mainland and Canada wide.
Tense Watches is passionate about making an impact with other Canadian brands, local charities, non-profits and of course with our customers, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
