Hello Calgary! Louisa & Conrad here from True Büch. For those of you who don’t know us, we are Kombucha brewers from Calgary, Alberta. Kombucha is a bubbly, fermented tea that is made using tea, sugar cane, and a live bacteria culture called a SCOBY.

We started True Büch back in 2014 - at the time we were both working office jobs and were looking do do something different.  Conrad, who is allergic to gluten, was looking for an alternative to beer and began brewing his own kombucha a few years ago.  We spent time perfecting our recipe and finally decided to start selling it. We weren’t sure what would happen, but Calgary’s small business community took us under its wing and we still can’t believe how amazingly supportive everyone has been. Fast forward a few years and you can now find True Büch across Alberta!

One of our favourite things about this business is the amazing people we have met along the way. We owe our success to the community that supports us and couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the local home grown movement. At the core of everything we do is a commitment to giving back to that community. We give a portion of the proceeds of our büch to local charities we love. There are so many great charities doing amazing things in this city and we want to make sure you know about them! Here are a few of the ones we support!

Leftovers YYC is a Food Rescue Program that collects food from restaurants around the city that would otherwise throw them away and distributes it to those in need.

Pals Calgary is a Calgary based not for profit that connects therapy pets with patients who can benefit from animal connection.

REAP: Be Local is a hub for businesses that are committed to green and stainable business practices.

Wimbyn: Is a brand-new yoga studio that just opened in Inglewood that caters to kids, enabling them to find balance through yoga. Every week you can find a free True Büch sponsored class for those who can’t afford to go.

And lastly,

Mealshare: It’s another amazing non-profit we are proud to be partnered with. They work with local restaurants throughout the city to put Mealshare items on their menu. If you buy one of those items you are also donating a meal to a youth in need.

Next time you see one of these great companies, know that a little bit of good is happening in your hood! Thanks for taking the time to read about us, and the organizations we love. If you want to give our büch a try, you can find us at any of the locations on our website!

Yours in büch,

Louisa & Conrad
