#YYCCreatives Guest Blog by Kazuki Tomoda
This week we hear from local photographer Kazuki Tomoda. A talented photographer and one who truly believes in building community.
Hi, my name is Kazuki. Nice to meet you. I moved back to Calgary from Kelowna in December of 2017 and have been working hard to create connections and make new friends. I have been a photographer for 11 years starting in 2008. Some of you may know me from the collaborative blog post with Austin Knibb (@austinknibb). I started photography in Kelowna in 2008 and I'm completely self-taught. I have always loved photography ever since I was young. I would always try to find ways to take photos that speak to me and I have found that that’s usually nature photos. Recently, I have gotten into videography as well. I enjoy how with the video you can do be so much more creative.
I also love connecting and networking with other like-minded creatives, small business and startup owners which is where #YYCCreatives Meetup was born. #YYCCreatives Meetup is a networking event that connects photographers, videographers, DJs, music producers and other types of creatives. This meetup doesn’t just include current creatives but also those who are wanting to get into some sort of creative discipline. This meetup is very welcoming and everyone who attends loves to meet new people. These meetups always provide a new perspective for me as I meet new people and learn new things that I never knew about before.
I love to learn new things all the time. I live by my life motto, “Always Learning. Always Growing. Always Human.” This motto describes how we are and how we should be as humans. Learning and growing has given me a new outlook on life. I have managed to create major and minor connections both with businesses and brands as well as individuals. It has helped keep me on my toes. I also love to travel especially close to home. My favourite places so far have been, Banff, Morant’s Curve and Peyto Lake. If you haven’t been, I would suggest going soon as the sun has finally come out to play!
If you ever need me to take photos or video at all, reach out to me and follow me on my Instagram @kazuki.tomoda. Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or comments. I also do introductory photography lessons for those who are interested in getting into photography and want to know more about how to edit, compose and take photos. I would love to get to know you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time. I hope to meet you soon. If you are interested in meeting up with Kazuki, other local photographers and a nice day out in the mountains, check out their #YYCCreatives Meetup in the mountains on June 8th, 2019. You can register here for the event and it's completely FREE!
