Canadians Made This Toque Sell Out in 12 Hours, and Here’s the Story Behind It
Some moments remind us just how generous and community-minded Canadians really are.
Last Friday, we experienced one of those moments.
On December 5th, we launched the limited-edition CBC Make the Season Kind toque, a Canadian-made winter essential created in partnership with CBC for their annual holiday charity campaign. We expected it to resonate. We did not expect it to sell out in less than 12 hours.
But you showed up.
You shared it.
You supported it in a big way.
And that support will directly help people across Canada this winter.
A Toque That Stands for More Than Warmth
What made this release special wasn’t just the product, though yes, it was soft, cozy, and built for true Canadian winter.
It was the purpose behind it.
Each toque featured the official Make the Season Kind heart logo and CBC label, representing more than a piece of clothing, it represented community, generosity, and compassion.
Most meaningful of all?
100% of profits go directly to local food banks.
That’s the real heart of CBC’s Make the Season Kind campaign, a nationwide effort that has raised more than $64 million for food banks and charities since 2012.
We were honoured to contribute to a mission that helps so many families and neighbours across the country.
A Release Fueled by Community
We had just 150 toques available online, the rest were headed to CBC events across Canada.
We expected a weekend’s worth of sales.
Instead, you cleared the shelves by dinner time.
Your enthusiasm reminded us why we do what we do: create products that bring people together and give back in meaningful ways.
And Now… Something Unexpected
We thought that was the end of the story.
But it turns out CBC had a small number of toques left over from their campaign events, and they’ve decided to send them our way so more people can take part.
Yes… the CBC “Make the Season Kind” toque is coming back for one final release.
Very limited quantities. No restocks after this one.
Stay tuned, these might fly even faster than the first batch.
Thank you for making this season kind with CBC and Local Laundry.
