Braving the Cold: A Look into Building a Clothing Company with Local Laundry -Vlog #005
It was a cold and busy week for the team at Local Laundry, as temperatures in Calgary dipped below -30 degrees Celsius. But despite the harsh weather, we were determined to make progress on building our clothing company.
On Monday, we had a big task ahead of us: we needed to pick up 19 boxes of clothes from our printers. We rented a U-haul and set off on our journey, with the help of friends Jordan Allred and Tammy Amstutz. When we arrived at the printers, we had to sort and count all 19 boxes, which was no easy feat in the cold. But with the help of our friends, we were able to get the job done.
One of the highlights of the week was when we had the chance to host Mitchell Holzwarth from AC Robotics, who came to show us his prototype for a t-shirt folding robot. It was fascinating to see how technology can help make the process of running a clothing company more efficient.
As the holiday season approaches, we were also busy preparing for the upcoming surge in e-commerce and retail orders for Black Friday. To make sure we were ready, we did a lot of prepping and planning.
On Thursday, we were excited to have the Paralympian Zak Madell come to our office to put some Vesco metal craft stickers on our sticker wall. If you're a fan of Local Laundry and would like to send us stickers, fridge magnets, or anything else, please feel free to mail them to 4120 8th Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 3A7.
We also had the opportunity to chat with Karina Sharma on the CanadianSME Small Business Magazine Podcast, where I had the opportunity to talk about how we use TikTok to expand our audience and grow our business.
Lastly, we also reached out to our customers for feedback on a new product idea: hoodie strings. The results were fascinating and provided valuable insight on what our customers want.
Overall, it was a challenging but productive week for the team at Local Laundry. Despite the cold temperatures and the many tasks we had to complete, we were able to make progress on building our clothing company with the help of our friends and partners. If you're interested in following our journey, be sure to tune in to our weekly vlogs, where we share updates on our progress and give you a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to build a clothing company from scratch.
