$100K Donation Milestone Press Release

SMALL BUSINESS DONATES

$100K TO LOCAL CHARITIES IN CANADA

Clothing company, Local Laundry, hits a milestone on their way to donate a million dollars by 2030

CALGARY (Dec. 15, 2021) - Local Laundry hits a brand milestone by donating $100,000 to Canadian charities. As part of their mission to donate a million dollars to local charities by 2030, Local Laundry is one-tenth of the way there. Local Laundry has used its Canadian-made garments as vehicles in order to empower its customers to get involved and give back to vulnerable communities in Canada.

Since 2015, Local Laundry has donated to over 60 different charities across the country, including the Alberta Cancer Center, Youth Bureau Ottawa, Rainbow Railroad, Autism Canada, KidSport Edmonton, Girl Guides of Canada and more. Local Laundry offers to build community through its Canadian-made garments. By using clothing as a way to give back to local charities, it offers a way for their customers to contribute to causes they are passionate about.

“It gives our community a reason to get involved, a reason to be part of something that’s bigger than themselves, bigger than ourselves even, “ said Connor Curran, Co-Founder of Local Laundry. “Just because we’re a small business doesn’t mean we can’t have a big impact.”

It all started with a $100 dollar cheque. To celebrate Local Laundry’s first-ever 100 t-shirts sold, they donated $100 to the Calgary Drop-In Centre. Local Laundry could see firsthand the impact that every single dollar has on the community and how valuable it is to give back.

“We have always included a charitable component to the Local Laundry business, “ said Dustin Paisley, Co-Founder of Local Laundry.

“In the beginning, we donated 10 per cent of our profits to local charities. Over the years that donation piece has developed to working with partners, other businesses and entrepreneurs to create the cause of impact even greater and we’re excited to see where the next years take us!”

Local Laundry has committed itself to creating Canadian-made garments that empower the Canadian supply chain, ethically employ Canadian workers who can earn a liveable wage and donate back to organizations supporting vulnerable communities.
